1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using retirement-tax.com ("the Service," "we," "us"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. Material changes will be communicated via email to registered users.

AI-generated responses are based on publicly available information, user inputs, and internal calculation models. AI responses may be:

• Incomplete, outdated, or inaccurate
• Not specific to your individual circumstances
• Inconsistent with current law or regulations in your state
• Based on generalizations that may not apply to your situation

AI-generated content is provided "as-is" for informational purposes only. You should independently verify any information before relying on it.

4. Calculator Accuracy

The retirement calculator provides projections based on assumptions you provide (contribution amount, expected return, years of service, etc.). Actual results will differ due to:

• Market fluctuations and actual investment returns
• Changes in state pension laws or benefit formulas
• Changes in federal tax law
• Individual circumstances not captured by the calculator

Pension benefit formulas displayed are based on publicly available data and may not reflect recent legislative changes. Verify all figures with your state's pension system or HR department.

5. User Accounts

You must provide accurate information when creating an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity under your account. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, engage in abusive behavior, or attempt to circumvent usage limits.

6. Subscription Plans and Billing

We offer the following subscription tiers, billed through LemonSqueezy (our payment processor):

Subscriptions are billed monthly in advance. By subscribing, you authorize recurring charges. You can cancel at any time through your account dashboard or by contacting us; access continues until the end of the billing period.

7. Refund Policy

We offer a 14-day refund for new subscriptions if you are not satisfied. To request a refund, email support@retirement-tax.com within 14 days of your first charge, and we will process a full refund with no questions asked.

Refunds are not available after 14 days, for renewal charges, or for accounts found to have violated these Terms.

8. Usage Limits and Fair Use

AI question limits are enforced daily and reset at midnight UTC. PDF export limits reset monthly. We reserve the right to adjust limits to prevent abuse that would degrade service quality for other users.

9. Prohibited Uses

You agree not to:

• Use the Service to provide financial, tax, or legal advice to others for compensation
• Resell, sublicense, or redistribute access to the Service
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or automate access beyond normal use
• Use the AI advisor in ways that violate applicable laws
• Share account credentials with others or create multiple free accounts
• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose

10. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, code, content, and branding, is owned by us and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive license to use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes in accordance with these Terms.

User-provided data (your calculator inputs) remains yours. We do not claim ownership of your data.

11. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

OUR TOTAL CUMULATIVE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING UNDER THESE TERMS SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID TO US IN THE THREE MONTHS IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

Some jurisdictions do not allow limitation of liability for certain types of damages. In such jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the minimum extent permitted by law.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Teacher Retirement Tools, its operators, and affiliates from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your violation of these Terms or misuse of the Service.

13. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT CALCULATIONS WILL BE ACCURATE.

14. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws.

Nothing in these Terms limits any rights that may apply under mandatory consumer protection laws in a user's jurisdiction.

15. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify registered users of material changes via email. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance.
